Welcome to Arborcrest Gardens, a 26-acre botanical research garden located in Boone, NC. Nestled at the foot of Howard's Knob mountain, near Appalachian State University. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit private garden, opening our doors on many Fridays for tours by advance reservation. Get tour details here!

We've been nurturing the wonders of nature for more than three decades - growing and evaluating over 15,000 different species and varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials, ground covers and bulbs. Our vegetable and fruit test garden includes a greenhouse for year-round growing. See our Top 12 Vegetables to Grow.

Arborcrest Gardens began as a small home garden by Ron and Cheryl Stanley in 1989. Today, we join botanic gardens worldwide as we share our research to help both hobbyist and professional gardeners. Read more about us
